Subspecialty Education Coordinator Spotlight: Clayton Allen, MD

Dr. Clayton Allen serves as the Hematology Subspecialty Education Coordinator for the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.
Originally from Jackson, MS, Dr. Allen completed his undergraduate studies at The University of Mississippi and earned his medical degree at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. He then relocated to Charlottesville, Virginia, to continue his training and completed his Internal Medicine residency and served as Chief Resident in Internal Medicine at University of Virginia.
While there, received The Mulholland Society Teaching Award, which is given by UVA School of Medicine to a resident or fellow to recognize excellence and dedication in educating medical students. It was also there that he met his wife Christine, and they were married in 2013.
In 2017, he completed a fellowship in Medical Oncology and Hematology at Vanderbilt University. Dr. Allen joined the Baptist Cancer Center in 2018, moving to Oxford with his wife and sons Joseph and Samuel.
“Resident education and training will shape the quality of health care for the people of Mississippi,” Dr. Allen said. “I am excited to help residents reach their potential as physicians.”
