Subspecialists’ lectures focus on gastroenterology, cardiology

Two physicians from the Jackson, MS, area presented Grand Rounds lectures in Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi’s Graduate Medical Education Department over the summer.  

Brooks Vance, MD, visited the program on Friday, July 29, 2022, and gave a presentation titled, “High Risk GI Disease for the Medicine Resident...and Other Interesting Things.” He led the trainees and attending physicians through the session by focusing on cases of critically ill patients and reviewing the plans of care in each instance. 

Dr. Vance is in practice with GI Associates and Endoscopy Center and serves as the Director of Advanced and Therapeutic Endoscopy for the group. 

On August 19, 2022, Donald “Trey” Clark III, MD, MPH, addressed “Prevention of Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease” in a Grand Rounds session. He provided an overview of prevention, as well as primary and secondary prevention considerations. 

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Clark serves as an associate professor and the director of the Cardiovascular Disease fellowship at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
